Thanks mate! Answered the last thread before I checked the index.

Do you find the light shines further or that it shines the same distance, just brighter?

Do they produce any extra heat that could do any sort of damage?

Not tham I am aware of, if anything it works on the same principal as a fluorescent globe ( from what i can remember) and I think it actually produces less heat than a normal halogen,

nice. so the internal wiring just goes to where the old wiring was? you just remove old and put new in?

Re: DIY Gen3: Hid Install.

all the existing wiring stays where it is, the new wires plug into the old ones to get power for the " Ballast ", so in other words, the cable that runs to your standard globe is now used to power the ballast

(Ballast is the square box that you can see, it is an amplifier to run the HID's)

In the 2nd pic, those 2 free dangling cables, plug into that clip that you can see dangling next to it

What about wiring? Is it drawing more current and heating wires?

Sorry mate, lapse in concentration, I just farted BAD and my missus is ripping into me!

Does the ballast get hot?

And finally, price and place of purchase?

RAHAHAHAHHA!!!! thats gold..  hope you didnt drop your guts!

the ballast after an hour of driving was a bit above room temp basically, didnt over heat much at all.. most of the heating could have been done by the engine heat..

Doesnt draw more current, as the ballast is an amplifier that strengthens the standard current, much like a stereo amp..

EBAY - $170.00, I picked them up last night, the guy was local.

Brandname is Kingswood HID conversion Kit

No guts left, just a huge skid in the jocks. Something else for the missus to clean.

Sound like your happy with the result of the install. Was shipping included in the win price?

Shipping was an extra $10 bucks, but he lived about 2 mins away, so i saved the 10 bucks.. smile

really impressed with them..

Oh another thing, once you install HID's I lowered my globe direction a little, so they dont shine directly in oncoming drivers eye's.

Personally, I wouldn't do it unless I'm doing all parking and spot lights as well.

On a side note, I was under the impression that HID require waterspary for the headlights otherwise it's a defect.

Most European cars that come with HID have this feature on the headlight.

Will check the RTA website for any details about added High Intense Discharge Globes.
