difference in manual and auto ecu? after a manual convert

  Top of Page

bought a liberty wagon gen 1 and it has been converted to manual, it still has the auto dash with the auto gear icons in the middle, there are a few concerns i was wishing to get addressed by people who know. so any feedback would be much appreciated smile

1. should the cruise control be affected by the change of transmission as the cruise lights up on the button but does not work
2. should the revs be affected by the change? say if it has an auto ecu still or something like that? because it revs a fair bit over 3000 in 5th at 100 my old mans fwd same model more kms revs at about 2800-3000.

thank you for any feedback!

No idea about cruise, but the number of revs you sit on depends on the gearbox ratios. My original gen2 RX gearbox sat at about 2900rpm at 110km/hr, my STi gearbox sits on about 3450rpm at 110km/hr. Both 5-speed manual gearboxes, but very different ratios.
Changing the ECU won't do anything about this either, since it's mechanical. If it were a CVT gearbox then maybe...

I'm not sure, what does it look like and where would it be located?
would it be as simple as plugging something in?
