by jeffysfinal on 12-11-07 12:45 PM i dont understand why a BOV can be defectable if its not plumb back. its not going to release that much "bad" gas and some are pretty quiet. i can understand if it's one of those "sonic" things that sounds like a jet. |

by twinturbosubaru on 12-11-07 08:57 PM BOV's are a problem because they don't just let the air out into the atmosphere, the mixture is also affected which does two things. Firstly it changes your A/F ratio for that short amount of time, which in turn causes more unburnt fuel to exiti said engine and cause more pollution.

by twinturbosubaru on 12-11-07 08:59 PM Sorry, and one other thing, personal imports are different when it comes to ADR's also, whilst I have never tested the theory with my Legacy, the ADR's that imports need to comply with are mostly safety related, except for exhaust from memory.

afaik the atmo bov causes problems coz your car believes the air the maf has metered is still in your intake and it dumps fuel in for it, becuase the air is not there you get an incomplete burn, hence the black smoke and POP sound when changing gears with a maf sensed car with atmo bov... |
