Car Games - Who loves em!

  Top of Page

I'm currently playing rFactor,
There are a lot of downloadable cars to get. My favourite is the old bathurst cars. I'm suprised how realistic they feel.

At the moment i'm also mucking around with V8 Super Cars 3
Its much better than its predecessors

nothing beats GRID-RACE DRIVER

best driving game you'll ever play. but you need a reasonably good computer to run it. i'm on a 2grand laptop and it only plays it on medium settings.

I downloaded RFactor and the Drift Revolution add on but could never figure out how to work it. The control was pretty poor with kb setup.

I play Live For Speed quite a bit online. I'm pretty much only buying a PS3 to get GT5... Although playing Forza 2 made me think a little.

have been playing a lot of GT4 the last year - quite enjoyable but would like a bit more realism with the AI, car setup before a race, larger number of cars in a race.... don't ask for much do I? hehe

Have quite enjoyed Grand Prix 4 (and its predecessors) on the PC also. Don't mind the Colin McRae Rally series either. Haven't played either of the "Dirt" games yet though

Dirt looks really good and the graphics look amazing. I love most of the CMR Rally games.

For realism, Forza 2 all the way. Awesome game. Drifting its a heap of fun on it once you get the hang of it, can do some pretty nuts sh!t  tongue, but learning how to can be tedious. Tonnes of cars and the mods you can buy arent bad.......then you have to tune it which is a whole new world.

Colin McRae Dirt is awesome as well. Probably 6 or 7 different catagories to race in with some rather odd rally car (like a barina!), the graphics are mind blowing and the physics ofthe game seem to be pretty realistic as do Forza's. Best part of Dirt is taking a hill climb unlimited car up the pikes peak full track :triniti:, 5ish minutes with 1500hp in a car that barely weighs a tonne=some ridiculous skids tongue.

Best game to veg out with and do something that are physically impossible......NFS underground 2. Example of ridiculous un attemptable stuff......Getting a GTR 100+ degrees sideways at 150km/ph.......looks so cool, just no.

I still haven't been able to get the hang of Dirt, the physics feel very twitchy and quite unrealistic, its quite difficult to get a car into a full slide.

There are too much graphics and not enough action smile

Tried playing with the dead zone and all those settings?

I usually spend a good 10-15 minutes driving then going back and adjusting the settings then back to driving, etc until it's feels perfect.

yeah, very unrealistic from the mob who brought accurate driving sims out of the grand prix sim realm into the road car realm. I still love NFS1

How many have played Live for Speed?
It offers some really impressive graphics and very realistic handling

Pity you got through it so quick, but at least you had fun by the sound of things.

Have you played Race driver grid and colin mcrae dirt?

Both are really awesome games with a bit of tweaking but it depends on what style of racing or realism levels.

i didnt really like racedriver grid becuase i found it unrealistic. im more of a man who like to play forza, gran turismo and live for speed. i used to enjoy NFS  but then i just grew out of how stupid it is. IMO its like the fast and the furious for consoles.

I found race driver grid pretty unrealistic with regards to steering and handling

If you ever play colin mcrae Dirt I MUST recommend that you try with the patch, it improves the handling characteristics and i've been playing it much more now

Gran Turismo Owns All.

Though lately I've been playing a bit of Midnight Club: LA.

Whoever said games have to realistic to be fun?

After all, counter-strike and world of warcraft are hardly realistic lol.

Yeah you definitely have a point, I think people find it fun to get as close as possible to the real thing and it becomes more of a sport.

Midnight club: LA is supposed to be a real great fun game and i'd love to review it when I have the chance for my site.

Another great arcade style game so far has been Race driver Grid and Colin Mcrae Dirt, they have been really fun to play

racedriver GRID is the best car game ever IMO.
You wont appreciate it fully unless you have a good pc and gfx card.

I've been playing grid for a while and although its not exactly the most ACCURATE of racing, but its one of the most involving. I find it easier to drive in the bonnet view but I still like to sit in the drivers seat sometimes smile

How far did you get through fatz?

Re: Car Games - Who loves em!

yep GRID on 360 rulz, only got two endurance races to finish!! i cnat even do them on basi mode!! haha but its fun as (especially the drift!), im still a fan of forza motorsport on xbox, you can change nearly every aspect of the car from camber/castor to how much load an how quick you pull the handbrake, it was fun to just muck round drift on the tracks in an AE86 with a turbod altezza engine hahaha or an RB26 silvia!!

and gran turismo is good, but when will they give us visual damage??? you dont hit a wall at 300kph and not have a scratch??? thats one thing grid is good for

It's due to be implemented sometime this year as a downloadable patch update to GT5 Prologue. Sort of like on the fly beta testing for the final version of GT5. Should be epic.

Here's hoping for more racing orientated cars in the next version though. I never saw the point in delivering 18 different types of Skyline and Civic and only one Open Wheeler. More classic Le Mans cars would be sweet too.

If they can crack a list of 1000 cars or more - then I reckon it'll be as close to racing game perfection as you can get. That is until Gran Turismo 6 hahaha.

That should be a great feature to see finally implemented.
I always found the gran turismo still quite arcade in handling even with a wheel so i'll still happily review it when it arrives for my site but i'm a bit skeptical about its physics.
