Buying a Car

  Top of Page

s I am now on the hunt for a B4, MY01-MY03, I am finding it difficult to find any...especially in Newcastle...but there are a few around in sydney, melbourne and qld....but obviously melb and qld is too far to go...sydney...well...its hard to find time..

so the question is...is it a good idea to buy without seeing the car? i could pay RACQ, NRMA etc to go and do a report for me....

problem is, even though i want a B4...if i cannot find one soon...my passion for them may waver...

come to NZ and save yourself like 5k:) mind you, you would have to keep it here for a year to get it as a personal import..
/end useless contribution

/start serious contribution

there are a couple of guys on here as blak said who are selling their rides, Ras's b4 is nice and he is going overseas so needs to sell..

I bought my lib from interstate.

Perhaps try and find someone on here that can check it out for you, I got mine from Melb and got RACV to do a comprehensive check on it. All came back good on that.

I got the car back had to replace 2 tires, head gasket was gone and heads needed machining... and to think I was going to drive it back from melb - i am glad i got it shipped!

In the end it was worth it, bilstein gen2's are not easy to come by, especially low k's and manual so mine was definately worth it.

Took me many months to find the car I wanted so I would be patient with it all, although I guess it depends on your individual situation at the time and if you can survive without a car.

Good luck.

Re: Buying a Car

Hi Guys,
I bought my GenIII Heritage sight unseen or driven from Nowra and I live in Adelaide.  I had a full report done by RACV or whatever it's called in NSW.  The report was accurate and I didn't find any problems other than what were reported, and it hasn't cost me much to fix those.  I'd been looking around for about 6 months, finally decided that I'd had enough of the old Camry and that night spotted an ad in the Trading Post that was too good to refuse, I got it for $14,250 (worth a lot more than that).

I can recommend the process.  I drove the car back from Nowra to Adelaide, without a hitch last September and haven't looked back since.

Cheers
Darryl
