brake light wires

hey guys i was having a fiddle around trying to do the mod that gives you the extra 2 brake lights in the garnish, the lights and there, the globes are there, and it all seems to be wired up, but they dont work.
as im not an electrician and a noob with cars, i have no idea which wires to change or connect.
i have some pics here.

i was wandering if that one above is the one that i have to fiddle with? connect a wire to it? anything like that?

in that pic above you can see a random yellow wire with no connector to it. i was wandering if anyone knows what that is?

Gen2 wagon yes?

I did this to my previous wagon.

Check the light sockets of the brake lights and check the colors. Now check the colors at the sockets of the lights in the garnish that dont work.

Your neutral/ground wire will be common to both sets of lights, but the switched wire will be different.

Note the color of the switched wire at the brake lights and find that wire in the plug in your attatched pic.

Find the color of the switched wire at the garnish lights that dont work, find that back at the plug in your pic, cut it and solder/attatch it to the switched wire from your brake lights.
