I had a bit of a spirited run up a mountain down around the Vic snow fields with a Golf diesel up my arse the whole time. Just because diesels don't have a huge power figure doesn't mean they can't keep up! :Pilot: Mind you as soon as we hit a nice flat bit he was gooonnne :beach: |

All the press reports listed on the first post are indicating that it's very "quiet" for a diesel. I'm quiet looking forward to this one arriving here... |

fair enough, the only experience I have with TD's is 4WDs, was a dog driving around (compared to its petrol brother) but for towing (boats in our case) it was awesome for a 4 cylinder. |

by MarkC77 on 01-04-08 12:59 PM Is there any word of a diesel auto? Seems like nearly all diesel cars in Australia are manual. A DSG style gearbox mated to a boxer diesel engine and not to mention AWD would be quite a phenominal car. Hope Subaru are listening. |

by Blaeven on 07-04-08 08:49 PM I've driven a golf 1.9 TD with a DSG... that was a seriously quick car, and the 2 liter VW TD is apparently faster, newer technology etc... if it's too slow for you just chuck on a bigger turbo?? |
