But install it where Shane (legacy rsk) did, because the boost lines are slightly different from he Legacy to the Liberty.

Re: Boost Gauge installation legacy b4 rsk

Reading this thread this arvo got me into action to install the Defi gauge & controller I've had sitting around for ages.
I've got the vac line hooked up and run the wires into the cabin, mounted the gauge etc. just need to wire the controller in and shes done.

I had  some wiring info lying around but now can't find it or remember where I got it from!

All I can remember is the Defi side of things:

Constant 12V+ : Defi red wire.
Ignition 12V+ : Defi orange wire.
Illumination 12V+ : Defi white wire.
Black Ground: Defi black wire.

And I think:

Black Defi (Ground) - Black on radio wiring harness.
Defi white (Ill) - Purple on radio wiring harness.

Can anyone help me with the rest? Walts? (assuming you did the install yourself?)
Car is a '99 Legacy GT-B, Defi/Sti Genome controller & gauge, which I'm assuming would be similar to the B4/Defi combo at the end of the day

Cheers!

Hey mate,

You have it all correct so far,

ignition wire is yellow on radio harness
and constant power is red

I don't know if that helps though because I have an aftermarket pioneer headunit lol

Thankyou sir!

I have an Alpine deck connected using one of those aerpro harnesses, but I should be able to work it out. It's just good to have this kind of info before messing round with things, especially electrics!

Cheers for the help!

For all the people who don't know but there is a male plug located next to the steering colum just about 10 cm down from the ignition key that has all kinds of electrical outlets. Eg: rpm, acc, 12v, reverse signal, headlights, ect. I will post a picture of it as I am at work now. You can buy a female plug for it from japan that makes it easier to use.

Is this just a spare plug hanging unused?

yes it is a spare plug. in japan they use this for added products that need certain connections. this plug is found on adm gen 4's so i cant see why it would not be on adm gen 3's.
female adapter is available from importmonster

Haha, i got my gauge 2nd hand through IM and it came attached with a plug that looks just like that.
I looked in behind the stereo/ac, and under the dash but didn't think to look with the column cover removed, since the gauge came out of a gc8 i just assumed I didnt have the same plug so I cut it off!

Looks like I might have to wire it back together for an easy, clean install.

Cheers for that Shane.

This is where i tapped my boost gauge electrics on my gen3 B4. This is a prep for add on's like the STi Genome Defi gauges - they carry the female plug.
