Best Next-G Mobile Phone?

  Top of Page

Hi,

Up for the CDMA rollover to Next-G. What is the best mobile phone for use on the Next G network? I don't need PDA functions, only bluetooth and a camera.

Looking around the $500 outright area.

I keep getting pointed to the LG-TU550. But I don't like LG's - is this stupid to think LG is crap?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Nik

n95 FTW. I'm on mine now. Checking latest posts on wifi. Lol. 3. They do great deals on phones. Especially if people u kno r on it. 5 mega pixel camera kicks arse to. Output to go into tv. It,s also just a standard head phone jack. My n95 is 8gb of memory. So u can run it through aux on cd playdr and play mp3s.

the 6120 classic is rocking my world. Its fast, its basic. Its

1) A phone
2) A phone with bluetooth
3) A phone with expandable microSD (not sure what size)
4) A phone with an ok(ish) cammera
5) A cheap phone smile

it also uses the s60 software (v3) so you can put a few apps on it.

Only issue I have with it, can't charge via USB

Clicky "Outright purchase for $589.00 (no plan)" Thats from the telstra site. Im sure you could find cheaper and better if you hunt around a little

Hi,

Thanks for the quick replies guys - the phone is actually for my mother, and I think an n95 (no offence mum) might be a bit complex to get her head around?

The other thing, do you guys have headsets with these phones? A good headset is another essential.

Cheers,
Nik

Mine came with a corded one. But you could get any blutooth headset. The loudspeaker ain't too shabby (well compared to the old motorola I had before)

I had a Motorola V6maxx for about 12 months till last weekend when i grabbed a n95, loving it. The moto was alright big numbers easy to answer and hang up being flip (thinking easy to use for an um ah mm ah mm middle aged lady [hope that was polite enough]) its an older model now, been superseded. A big BUT though is the n95 stays pegged at full service whereas the moto would drop in an out a bit in the same areas. Maybe the newer motos might be better reception wise. But really another vote for the n95:superman2:superman::clapping::clapping:

Hi,

I have an N73, and absolutely love it. Though the interface is quite slow, same as the N95.

Camera's on the N series are awesome, Carl Zeiss lens!

The only problem with the N95 guys is that it is more like $900, eh?

Nik

Ive got about 4 days from the first couple of charges on the n95, thats with light "phone" use but playing with gps, camera and media stuff. Should improve a little with a few more charges.

Edit: Yeah still around $900-1000 outright at the mo

Hi,

Forgot to mention, battery length on my N73 is superior to the LG's and Samsungs in the family - by a LONG shot, that's with extensive MediaPlayer and camera usage.

Nik

Ya gotta make sure you get the WCDMA 850 version to work with nextg, thats the WCDMA 2100 version that works with optus, 3 an so on. The lower frequency is what gives nextg better range than the other 3g networks but also makes the handset about $500 more expensive cause its less common round the world, apparently.......
