Back in a subi again

Hello all,
I have made the trek back to subaru land after a short lay-over in nissan country. I now have in my garage a manual 2002 B4, which used to belong to a member on here (moonwalker 1982 I think, the car is in the my rides section). Have only had the car for a couple of weeks but B4 ownership is bliss. I have owned a rex before so it is not all new to me, but the B4 is such a luxurious vehicle to drive compared to the boy racer rides I have preciously owned. Guess you start to appreciate the finer things in life as you approach 30.
I am thinking about fitting a 3inch exhaust to the car and would love to hear from others who have had good and bad experiences.

Welcome mate...... love the black B4, you will love it.

With the exhaust. Be very careful with pinging in the B4's. I Have a 01 Black B4 manual. It pinged from day i bought it, only fix. 98 ron fuel and Octane boost every 2ish fill. Still it blew the motor becuase of too much pinging. I only had a rear diff back muffler change and did the big end bearings.

My advise if you want an exhaust. Save up for a piggyback computer or a reflash (crud!!) or a chip or somthing aswell as the exhaust. Get the exhaust done and then go get the computer done and dynoed and you will have an awesome car. Just beware of just doing the exhaust as you may just end up with a blown motor.

This is just my experience. Mind you it wasn't all bad. I now have a 2.2 litre stroked B4 with a full exhaust and a haltech Interceptor and water spray. So yeh there is always a silver lining!!!

Thanks mate, sorry to hear you had to go through all that, but the 2.2 would definately put a smile on your dial. Alls well that ends well I guess. I have heard that pinging is a big problem, but have not heard any as yet.......fingers, toes and all other crossable body parts interlocked. I rang MRT and they tried to talk me into the ecutek reflash instead of the exhaust. I really only want the boxer rumble as this car is the daily commuter. Don't get me wrong though, more power is always an option.
