B4 Gets Tuned

  Top of Page

Well I got the Ecutek 2 done today. - 185kw atw

Don't much care for a pissing match over whether Ecutek is worth the money, cause its the only option here in SA.

My mods-

3" Y-pipe back exhaust with high flow cat
Hyperflow CAI
Walbro Fuel Pump
Ecutek 2 done today with 15psi once the secondary turbo comes online.

Im a VERY happy chappy.

Thanks billsy.

I gave it a title but it wouldn't show it!!

I am somewhat dubious of the figure though......I mean it is running 15psi on the secondary but is 185kw really fair dinkum?

Im happy with the result regardless but....!

power fiquires all depend on which type of dyno, hub dyno will show more, rollind dyno show less and even which gear the car on the dyno was in.   3rd will show higher 4th lower etc etc. in general some dyno's are happier than others. i've done just about eveything you can do to the b4 and subaru docklands dyno showed about 160kw compared to where i got the work done showed about 170kw all in 4th gear rolling dyno.
kw fiquires are just a pissing contest between some people.
my car is all about drivability and power down low, it's a family car that fuggen rocks( once i fix my big end bearing off course)

Is it rude to ask how much the whole process cost, including dyno time and tuning?

yes they are all different, in adelaide though the main ones read within 3-4kw of each other right through the range as stated by s&j and seen by many dyno days of comparisons by the same cars, S&J use both GWest and Turbotune to tune cust cars, they are the 2 main awd dynos used in adelaide. both different makes and both rolling road.

Re: B4 Gets Tuned

Well after driving around for nearly a week since this was done.....I have maybe tempered my enthusiasm for the results. It is pretty much as you see it on the dyno sheet. Day to day driving I feel NO difference on the primary turbo, the flat spot is dramatically reduced, but is still there. The pull when the secondary comes on is fantastic- but not really useable in day to day traffic. To rev it out that hard means every man and his dog is going "what a wacker- gunning it when its wet". Really have to wait for this shitty weather to clear before I can take it hard through the hills.

Poogene- to any rational person the answer is TOO MUCH. But its done now and I don't regret anything I ever decide to do. $1775 including Dyno time. - on paper its outrageously expensive for 1hr of dyno time and a retune. Once again though its the only practical and safe option here in Adelaide for me. I installed the fuel pump myself which saved me nearly $300 in the process.

Great job mate,
Got to be happy with that.

Is it eay to install the Walbro pump?
I was quoted $450 fo the pump and installation by Mercury Motorsports in Brisbane so have decided to buy one and do it myself before ECUTEK2

Re the fuel pump- it is hard and it isn't. Getting the walbro to fit into the plastic housing is the fiddliest and hence hardest bit. The rest of the process is straightforward.

Have a look at Kosti's DIY which I referred to quite a bit. I have also done up a DIY over on the liberty.asn forums under the "post your mods" board. I had to do mine a bit differently to how Kosti described to get it to fit. If you have patience then save the $300 and do it yourself.
