b4 exhaust

  Top of Page

Just looking to get more of the boxer noise out of my B4.  I still want it to be within epa, could anyone tell me where is a good place in outer east Melbourne, and also a rough cost of an appropriate muffler.

Try give Performance Exhaust in Ringwood a buzz.  Few of us on here got our exhausts done there.

Yeah just to bring the noise out a bit better, it was more than 5 degrees last night so i gave it a go with the window open for the first time in the 2 weeks i've had it, and it sounded real good at 7000rpm, don't care about getting more power, she go's fast enough already.

cable tie the muffler flap open, made mine sound heaps better, cost's about 15cents. still fairly quiet but with a nice burble at low speed when the flap would normally be closed. ghetto FTW! :new_russi
worth a try anyway for the price.

I did that before I put the muffler on back when I first bought the car.. no real noticeable difference in power and about 0.0000001db increase in sound..

Have a look on the inlet side of the muffler. You'll see a cable coming down and joins to a flap in the muffler. This flap opens under heavy throttle but when u drive around normally it doesn't open which is why its quiet unless you floor it. By keeping it open it will give you that sound all the time.

i tied it in the boot where the servo thing (technical term) is. disconnected the cable from it and cable tied it to the jack. obviously only temp to see how it sounds, pretty happy with it so far. shine a torch straight down the muffler an ya can see the flap.  not my idea, i stole it from on here:blush2:
