B4 alarm-frustrated

  Top of Page

The other day my battery ran flat( left the key on acc. or something. After i'd charged it and put it back in i noticed my alarm doesn't work. I'd driven the car about 3 times then i manually put my code in and the interior alarm starting going off and the car wouldn't start. Now every time i touch the pad it goes off.
Found a thread to help me over-ride it so i can drive the car but as soon as i put my code in it goes postal. any ideas

Seems that your pin code isn't being recongnised correctly.

Do a search mate and read the how the master code is derived :victory:

your problem is like sooooo many other subaru owners, its the BRANT system.... utter cr*p.

I have my master code and that gives me a false sense of security, but i will one day rip it out and put a decent alarm in there.

Unlucky.

Master code required. Easiest to talk to Subaru Australia. Plead ignorance.
I got mine over the phone (i also had my local Subaru dealer tell me the whole system needed to be replaced for a few thousand dollars).

Need to provide i.d, rego etc.

Good luck.

I have a key that's never been used, and my normal key - neither of them remote open the car. If you open with the key, the alarm goes off, but you do not have the option of entering the code to the brandt.

Then I walk inside, walk out again, and the key worked.

Really, really frustrating - as now I can't drive somewhere, with fear of it completely locking up on me (i live a long way from a bus/train service)

BLOODY BRANDT!

Cheers,
Nik

Any ideas?

Maybe the key battery itself is at the end of it's life?

I have been thinking about doing that for a while now. It has caused me so much grief in the last three weeks it's not funny - I can't even steal my own fvcking car!

What did you swap over to mate? I was thinking Mongoose (only because I've had it in my other cars)

nik

i didnt swap to anything, considered a viper alarm tho.  Figured without the key, a B4 is unstealable cos of the immobiliser in the key.

Nice one. I didn't realise that the key would still remote lock/unlock after the keypad is removed.

That should save me a few headaches.
