Can take some pics of progress if anyone is interested.
Got it from eBay. Can't remember how much but it was cheap. Only bidder I think.
Got a boot release solenoid with it but that's for another time. I need to build a trigger cct that'll fire the boot after 2 presses of the remote.

Re: Auto window closer

i installed one in my RX in a matter of half an hour..
very simple.. bought it from ebay ($19.95.. does all 4 windows, + sunroof (which i dont have))

and scottb721... im already onto it... ive got a working prototype... using a PIC 12F509.... it needs 2 input pulses, (i need to modify code to make it within a certain amount of time, (2 seconds or something)).. it then gives a 12v output pulse for half a second...

ill post pics up of  the window module in a second..

Re: Auto window closer

Heres a bad photo!... but you can see how easy it is..
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t196/dr_harika/DSC00245.jpg

Ignoring the 2 wires for the 5th window (sunroof)..

you will have 2 wires from the window roll up module for each of the 4 windows (8 wires in total)... Window 1, Window 2, 3, 4.

You need to cut the wire for the window you wish to close first that is positive when closing the window... do this close to the drivers door window module ... one wire from the rollup module will connect to each side of the wire you just cut.... (obvioulsy follow the instructions for which wire goes to the motor, and which wire goes to the switch... thats one window done...
do this for 4 other windows (all in the drivers door) and your done!

As for the trigger, i did it on the lock pulse in the door (in the gen3, its the white wire going to the door lock solenoid thingy).

Basically, the window rollup module sits in series with the drivers door switch and the motors for the individual motors.... if you wish, i can get you the colours of the wires in my gen3 for each individual window.
wiring up the window roll up module will require only 4 wires to be completly cut (not just stripped).

Obviously, if you "lock" the passangers windows using that crappy button, it will disable the auto rollup on those windows.... to overcome this, wire it up directly to the motors in each door... (i just disabled the switch so i couldnt lock the windows)

Re: Auto window closer

and for boot release off the factory remote: "using the unlock" button

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t196/dr_harika/PIC8pin3.gif
ive come up with this so far.. and have a working prototype.. but ive got a 5v SIP relay that can be triggered directly off the PIC (which only ouputs 5v at 25ma)..

therefore you dont even need the NPN transistor or the big relay..
as for the PIC programming.. still working on that, but looking very prommising..

ive also got some designs going for engine start... using factory remote..
this will be done by pressing the "lock" button 2 or 3 times in a 5 second period..

it will sense if:
the hood is closed
the handbrake is on
the car is in neutral
the doors are locked

it will then begin the startup procedure...
1- ACC on..
2- Power ON
3- Crank... and stop accoring to an input from alternator or RPM sense

then it will continue to monitor if anything gets triggered before the "unlock" pulse is triggered.

at this stage, if the brakes or clutch or handbrake or doors unlock, etc... the car switches off..

if all is good, and the car is unlocked via remote, the car will switch off; if the handbrake is taken off or the car is put into gear without the key in the ignition (in the ON position)... this will disable the startup module and the car will function and turn off as normal...

Why do i want this???... because i was sick of my aftermarket startup module which only checked if the hood was closed and the car was in neutral... it overcranked, and it was a crap system..... even the boot release feature was bad on the aftermarket alarm...

and the biggest want.... USING THE FACTORY REMOTE!

any q's, dont hesitate to ask big_smile

Ah yes the good old 509A - first the PSI then the optarse boxes then it was the 16F as there wasn't enough room in the 509...

Hey I got some re-writable 509JW if you interested in buying, I have no need for em, good for trialling those hex files big_smile

I've also got the schematic for the auto start, nothing hard, just off the starter motor, battery and coil, need 3 relays and your set.

Nice work Dr. Will be keen for one of these.
Was going to go with something a little less clever using a Lock then Unlock pulse but yours looks the goods.
As much as I wanted to I've never delved into the world of PIC programming. My only contact with them was fitting PS1 mod chips in days too far back to recall.

Re: Auto window closer

wow.. $200 upgrade... price is a bit    steep?

well im off to jaycar now to buy a few more things for my prototypes...
engine start is a long way off....... especially because i want the b4, need to disable the keypad somehow...

as for window roll up.. if you run into problems just post here or pm me... it will be seriously the easiest electrical work done to the car.... (unless you want to avoid the glitch of the windows not shutting if you "lock" them)

Press and hold number 5 and that makes the keypad "manual" like a house alarm, you can activate it if you want or leave it off

I plan to keep the 'Lock' working so I can have the windows ajar in summer if needed. Driver's window will still shut though.

My version doesn't allow any current sensitivity adjustment so hopefully the windows fully close before the module turns off.

Best place for Constant 12v ?
Was thinking of using the White wire going to the Ignition.

Re: Auto window closer

i ran my own fused line... i did this as i did the speaker cable..
from memory i couldnt find a thick constant 12v source in the door...
my module came with the power wire with a 25Amp fuse. (as it does 1 window at a time)....so this was the incentive to run thick wire from the ignition..
Also, i added a switch on this power line in the cabbin to disable window roll up (so in summer i can lock the car and leave the windows open).. i just tucked this in with the fuse box (so it was out of the way and good location)

basically, dont just tap into any thin wire in the door

ive actually taken mine out of the car.. as with everything, startup, boot release, stereo, computer, etc...... its all lined ready to go in my next car.

mickey... no probs tongue

this has to be the coolest thing i've seen all day.... im sooooooo getting one afta i do my sound system.... WOW.... and seems almost TOO easy..... how does the window winding motor get power when the cars switched off and you've just locked it? i thought then gen3's power is completely killed when key is out...? and yea, which wire is it for the lock pulse to use as a trigger?

Got the 2 wires for the drivers window thru the rubber conduit joining the door to the car. Talk about frustrating but got it eventually. Wired them up but has been slow going today so that's all I got done.
