by Ems GT on 16-08-08 08:59 PM The CPU fan on my PC has decided to run at full speed all the time since yesterday. There are no extra programs added and nothing operating which would cause this to happen. The BIOS is showing the temperature at about 35 degrees which is normal as I understand. I have downloaded the "speedfan" program to clarify and it's pretty much the same. It's an AMD Athlon dual core processor. Any thoughts out there on what it could be? |

by TUN35 on 16-08-08 09:11 PM Check your bios and see if you have the speedfan option enabled, will changed your cpu fan speed based on the load on the PC.

by cheesmac on 16-08-08 09:24 PM the only thing u can think of is the pin connection. wat speed does speedfan say the fan is running? open your case and check where the fan plugs into the motherboard. think its a 4 pin connection. im thinking that its hardware related... |

by allpaw on 19-08-08 06:11 AM Dont know whether this will help or not but my collegue at work had a similar issue, where the fan would not turn off. He got the Dell technican out twice and replaced the fan twice and it still did it. In the end it turned out to be a glitch in the Norton Personal Firewall software (of all things). NPF did an update one morning and thats when he stated getting the problem. He uninstalled NPF and then cleaned the registry and then installed PCCilin. Fixed the problem immediately and he was back up and running. Not saying this is your problem but if might help in some way. Cheers |

Running full speed at 35 degrees is a bit over excessive though. It really should slow down at temperatures like that. |

No, I don't really see a problem with a fan running full speed really, unless its industrial strength and giving you massive migraines or something... |

by buddylove on 19-08-08 12:50 PM Does the fan jump to 100% rpm as soon as you boot the pc? or only in windows? Look at your bios for a fan speed adjustment setting, if problem still exists update your bios , if problem still exists, replace the fan with a known working one of the same kind , if problem still exists check for settings in programs that you have installed that monitor/adjust the fan speed, i.e ntune.
