Aston Martin Rapide

  Top of Page

Hi,

You may well have heard a bit about this car, there has been official information filtering out for a while now. This discovery however is very much a surprise.

http://images.worldcarfans.com/2008/4/1/9080401.018/9080401.018.1L.jpg

Earlier today we caught the first shots of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage RS racing round the Nurburgring and fortunately this wasn't the only car the British manufacturers were testing.
Revealed in these latest spy shots, we can the see the super sexy Aston Martin Rapide is gonna get even sexier with the addition of a panoramic glass roof stretching from the top of the windscreen to the top of the rear window.
Power is likely to come from Aston Martin's 6.0 liter V12 engine producing around 500bhp, 0-60mph will be achieved in under 5 seconds and the top speed lies above 180mph. Sources claim we will see the production ready car hit dealerships sometime in 2009, so we should see the Rapide debut later this year with Paris being a likely destination.

For mine, this is close to the most beautiful 4 door saloon in a long time, barring some true classics, one of the best ever?

I can definitely see myself pointing out constellations to my supermodel bride through the glass roof.

I could probably handle having a V12 Vantage RS in the garage for weekends too... big_smile

Discuss.

Cheers,
Nik

They borrowed the gills from the new commodore wink

I've always loved the Aston's, i'd like to see it without the cover-up tape but it looks like its kept its basic shape which is a good sign.

The new Jag looks very much like a crappy Aston shape, you can tell they're made by the same people...

Hot, love the Astons...

Hi,

Aston has independence as a company now mate, hence the V12 Vantage coming to fruition.

I must confess I love the new XF Jaguar, and if it were in my price bracket I would be down at Jag now placing an order for a V8...

Cheers,
Nik

Wagon aside, we must agree this blows Porsche's Panamera doors off!

Reminds me of a Quattroporte.

Dunno about the name Rapide... too French for my liking.  Still, gimme an Aston anyday, regardless of model!

Agreed 100%, the XF is a sweeeeet bit of gear (despite sharing the model name with a certain 80's faux pas of a vehicle).  I'd love one.

I'd call them escape hatches - or the new child-proof locking system.

VERRRRY NOICE! :clapping:
I see several astons  (vantage and vanquish) near work each day (makes me sick ) .. there's a nice one which GRROWL plates on it.

Porsches are way to common. Ferrari's and Lambo are too showy, Jags dont do it for me. So when I get those six numbers, its an Aston for me.  smile

Looks out of balance, too long.  Nose needs about a ft, ft and a half off it to balance it out.

Ford own $77 million dollars of a $975 million dollar company. The sold the controlling share in March last year, and I believe the PAG (Ford) interest in the company is even less now, perhaps zilch.

Gaydon March 12, 2007: Aston Martin is pleased to announce the start of a new chapter in its illustrious history following the announcement today that the prestigious sports car manufacturer has been sold to a consortium led by David Richards, John Sinders, Investment Dar and Adeem Investment, ending almost twenty years as part of Ford Motor Company.
Things are looking very positive so far for the new investor group, and they really have given Bez the control that he deserves over the company. The V12 Vantage RS will be a $270k+USD car when released, pushing well into and beyond Ferrari money. I hope the survive. They've been crowned 'Coolest Brand' from England two years running.

Cheers,
Nik
