by Ganguskarn on 01-12-11 06:18 PM if it has a ECUTEK tune stay away , look for shitty mods, you want to see a stock bov and take it for a good drive , make sure it doesnt boost cut or ping bad , check brakes , and suspension , should be ok otherwise |

by Ganguskarn on 02-12-11 06:03 AM full exhaust? if so it will need a tune , that will cost around 600 from a flash tuner or chip torque do a really good job, |

by B4jamie on 02-12-11 07:02 AM Hmm it's been running for 3 years with the exhaust. It's runs really well too so maybe int has been tuned. Hopefully not by mrt. Did you note any difference it's the wrx top mount ?? They don't look very expensive. I wanna keep the car pretty much stock. Mainly due to reliabilty nd I'm not into racing or anything. Just want a reliable quick daily drive for uni and work. Ii don't wanna be spending thousand of dollars to gain a few kw. Maybe some lowered springs and a tune if necessary. I don't want a cai as I don't want want intake noise and I don't want a blow off valve. Any other Mods you'd recommend. It doesn't have any shitty mods. It's an import motor that was done with full receipts 3 years ago. The motor was 2900 and 2000 of other work was done at that time. Then 8 weeks ago the guy has spent 4k on timing belts. Arp head studs. Water pump. Thermostat, alloy radiator, clutch , cv joints. And bits of other work. The guy was going to sell the motor and drop and sti motor in. But he's buying my golf to work up instead. |

by Ganguskarn on 02-12-11 07:21 AM bug onwards wrx/sti intercoolers wont fit, without mods , serious ones , they sit futher forward and the B4 throttle body sitts futher back ,plus the bov wont fit and the plumb back arangement is different, my B4 is a single turbo aswell. , a hyperflow one that suits a GC8 will fit ,you just have to bolt your elbows up to it ,

by B42002 on 02-12-11 10:10 AM Great cars, so much fun to drive. You'll read alot of peoplel complaining about VOD. Once you learn to drive around it, when giving it a bit It's fine. Most of the time when I drive mine I change at 4000rpm at least till the road opens up. |

Re: aquiring a b4 liberty |

by B4jamie on 02-12-11 10:21 AM the vod wont worry to much, im a pretty tame driver, and like you said ill also be shifting around 4k to keep it economical. ive been driving a flashtuned golf tdi which had more than adeqaute performance for my liking. so adding 40kw at 4 wheels to that will be more thane xciting enough for me. |

the VOD was fun , while draggin some people ,i just didnt like seeing boost at 1900rpm coasting , eats the fuel atm i have full boost by 3100 19PSI all the way to redline with the 20g housing, great fun im getting an extra 100kms pertank single turbo and running a race/rally computer |

by BigWillieStyles on 02-12-11 12:00 PM I think you will enjoy the B4.
Yeah, the whole VOD thing is so overdone. I barely notice it and as above, it can be fun when going up against someone My biggest thing with the TT setup is that the most fun power is way up in the rev range.

by B4jamie on 03-12-11 05:01 AM I won't be racing anyone ! Haha. Id be to scared for the motor to go pop if I did. I'll see how it goes but I'll probably get the tune done after Uni starts.. See how much cash flow I have by then. I'll be running it on ultimate also !

when i see the party lights 2 things always run threw my mind, meeeeeep meeeeeep ( !!road runner!! ) and what's the misses going to say this time. i came from a road bike background ,but i had to get off those badboys quick smart , got done 240+ in an 80 ( estimated ) ((( but hey look on the bright side, i gave em a run for there money, but yea no machine can beat a radio!!!
the cops always get u sooner or later , i prefer the later.... the EJ20 208 is a fairly strong donk, remember the give it a good run on the secondary turbo once a week to keep things carbonless!!! and running smooth. |

by darkrs on 03-12-11 08:36 PM Jamie's taking about my B4 fellas. But as he's quite young, going from diesel golf to B4 may stretch him a bit, so has decided not to go ahead. My B4 is getting its STI engine done (this week).

by darkrs on 04-12-11 08:13 AM tune not required as was done so at time of exhaust. Fuel pump i'm sure has been done and a TMIC could have been worked in (i have an STI one sitting in my garage).
