This has been going on since Subaru started using alloy wheels as spares.
Keep an eye on eBay, trading post etc.
Did the po-po get your VIN? They can use this to check against wheels they "find" due to the data dots.

It's probably some punk wanting to get new wheels for his car and lives around around the eastern suburbs. Alloy wheels are not a big money-maker business so whoever does it is just for personal gain. And if you find one for sale there's absolutely no way of telling if it's yours and even if you could tell due to some specific gutter damage or something there's absolutely zero chance of proving it is. Subaru NEVER use data dots on wheels. The VIN number does nothing to help the police find your wheels mate. I'm sorry to hear about it and thanks for letting us know, but there's nothing that can be done... It's sad to see people would do that to someone, cause $500-600 worth damage to steal a $100 wheel.
