Love the 22B - Factory Subaru Phatness at its best! smile

Unless they've had multiple 22B's (kinda doubt it) - Autostyle have been trying to offload this for at least a good 12 months or so...

i would love one....considering there where only 399 built (no number 13) and only 5 brought to oz by subaru australia. they kept 1 and sold the other 4 for $110,000 ea complied. also in japan when new they sold for around 5.5 million yen each and back then if i can remember correctly was around 75 yen to the dollar. so it would have cost around 75 to 80 thousand dollars in japan......:victory:

god i love 22bs!! Widebody FTMFW!! 22b, RB320 and s401 are the nicest subarus ever to roll off the production line..

they may have been trying to offload this one for 12months due to the price.. i know subies are more expensive over in Oz but there was a 22b for sale in NZ recently for about 60 IIRC. it have more Kms but it was still a genuine 22b.. and also nicky grists 22b was for sale in blighty not to long ago and i dont think its price was that bad either..

Dosen't matter how much that car's value is in other countries. You can't get one locally, and you sure as hell would have trouble importing it here under SEVS rules, and then it would not be registerable anyway.
I agree that its overpriced in comparison to other countries, but he's not concerned because some lunatic WRX lover may eventually pay a very high price.
Starting price at auction Yen2.75mil (AU$27500),may go to Yen4mil (AU$40000) or more, then add aircon degass, steam clean, licence and export fees, roll on roll off fees, duty and taxes on CIF, import and shipping fees and wow that's not nearly as cheap as you thought it was going to be.

Up to you mate, the car has been for sale for like 18 months now. Well aware of the extra import fees, for my money though, the car would not bring a 150 thousand dollar smile to my face. They aren't exactly a super fast machine by todays standards, I would be suprised if a new STi didn't beat it around a track.

Nik

206Kw 363Nm Torque and 1270Kg it would get moving ok but its by no means a supercar. I kind of expected more out of something so damn expensive.

I think they are a tricky car to value. We are only now seeing good results from Toyota 2000GT's, but is this car really on cue with the styling changes the 2000GT represents?

It will either be a very clever man who buys it and sells for 500k ten years down the line, or a very broke man who has a kind-of quick 2 door rex.

Some have estimated they will fetch over a half a mil. in the next ten years.

I just don't see it being a car that if it didn't go up hugely in value, that you would get the real classic car enjoyment from.

Hopefully I am right though, and some great old school Japanese muscle will be in all of our buying range in a decade or so time.

Cheers,
Nik

this is true, but then who could have thought that we would be seeing E49 Chargers and XY GTHO Phase 3's going for hundreds of thousands.. or for that matter a lot of other Muscle cars too.. its all so unpredictable. will all depend if in 10 years time the guys who love these cars have a lot of money to blow and are seeking 22B's

im pretty sure that all turbo subarus are limited to 206 kw bar the new wrxs IIRC.. so just like a GTB/WRX/STi its rated at 206 kw.. the value of this car is so high, as shane said, because it one of only 399 so is incredibly limited.. plus it looks like sex on wheels.. they never intended it to be a faster version of the STi..

Yep Shane (and d-gen) that's correct. For us mere mortals with no contacts in Japan, It is probably the only way to get one here.
Even then, you still have to jump through hoops to get the import licence.
