THREE cars have been confiscated after an alleged street race in Sydney's west.

The cars were allegedly clocked by police travelling at twice the signposted limit of 60km/h on Reservoir Road at Prospect at about 10.15pm (AEST) last night.

A 17-year-old male P-plater from Erskine Park had his Subaru Liberty confiscated, while another P-plater, a 20-year-old woman from Narellan, had her Peugeot impounded.

A 30-year-old Werrington man also lost his vehicle, a Holden Commodore.

Police said all three were expected to be charged with street racing and other traffic offences.

Let's just say the Peugeot was pulling away from the police in a straight line.

They were going more than double the speed limit.

ALL lost their cars for 3 months :nono:

The last three digits on the numberplate for the Liberty B4 was 11E.

22A SHEEPISH P-plater was forced to explain to his older sister that her work car had been confiscated for three months, after he was caught street racing two other vehicles at over double the speed limit last night.

The three vehicles were clocked at over 120km per hour in a 60km zone, racing on Resevoire Rd, Prospect shortly after 10pm.

A Holden Commodore, Peugeot 206 and a Subaru Liberty were all confiscated by police at the scene and the drivers' licenses immediately suspended.

An unmarked police car chased the three cars for several kilometres along Resevoir Road, before they were stopped in the right turn lane on to The Great Western Highway.

The female driver of the Peugeot, 20, from Narellen, was carrying a 16-year-old male passenger at the time, while the 17-year-old driver of the Subaru Liberty, Peter Fagen, also had a passenger on board.

The five, who work together in construction were returning from work at the time.

They denied they were racing.

"We were just trying to keep up with each other," the 30-year-old Commodore driver, from Werrington said.

Explaining he needed the car to get to work, the man said confiscating the cars was unfair.

"The cops have just lost five people their jobs," he said

"Just for one little mistake - if you can't get to work what are you supposed to do?"

17-year-old Peter Fagen, of Erskine Park, who was driving his older sister's Suburu at the time said she was irate.

"You don't want to know what she said to me," Mr Fagen said.

All three cars were towed from the scene.

The drivers have been charged with a range of driving offences and are expected to face court next month.
