Is that for the turbo models that weren't released here? ie. Gen 2 RS and GT and Gen 3 GT-B?? |

by Matty4 on 28-11-07 09:38 AM Judging by the criteria mentioned in the links to the 2 cars you mentioned, I would doubt that any Suby would meet 2 out of the 4 criteria to be accepted onto the REVS list, ie. appearance, unusual design features, performance and specialist publications.

Those cars in question were most likely imported as personal imports. The question is in regards to SEVS, which is a different method of importing cars, where you don't have to own the car in question for 12 months in its country of origin. |

From what I could gather mate, SEVs is not a list but rather guidelines. The list that you found is more than likely the list of vehicles that have so far been imported under SEVS. Just because a vehicle is not on that list doesn't mean it can't be imported. It could just mean that nobody has tried yet :new_russi |

by Low Tech on 28-11-07 01:28 PM A little off topic but reading through that it has guidlines based on the 1989 ACT and from what i can tell that means that anything made before 89 is eligible to be imported without restriction (read a 67 stang). Is that more or less how other people read it? |

Any vehicle built prior to 1989 can be imported without restriction, assuming it can pass your states registration regulations.

by Soop on 28-11-07 03:22 PM Blak, i looked into this myself this week. Its not possible, even Importers said that Subaru's cant be imported. The closest you can get is Mitsus**tsme Evo's or Gallants. |

Why's that Paul? Is it because the turbos are still classed as being a "Liberty" which was sold locally, and thus doesn't qualify? |

by weezer on 28-11-07 06:35 PM the corollas most likely imported are of the 2 door variant [ trueno, levin, FXGT ], so they are different in body shape. also, they have the more powerful 4age 20v or 4agze motors, as opposed to our local 4afe and 7afe. |

You can import anything you like when ever you like, its just making it road worthy and registerable that is the trouble. You can still import a functioning legacy without it coming under any of the import schemes, but you would be limited to either racing or scrapping it, as it wouldn't be registerable. |

by Big Sim on 28-11-07 10:35 PM I'm pretty sure you can import 22b's as I don't think Aus ever released a 2 door? |

by theprotest on 28-11-07 10:39 PM Subaru of Australia brought in five or six, road registered 22B's. This is the major hurdle for you bringing it in. |

Re: Any LAWYERS? Help! |

by Big Sim on 28-11-07 10:54 PM Yeah even if they were easy to bring in they would still go for around 100K. How many 22b's were made? If they were as common as the 4 door they would be about the same but as they are rare the price is higher. Well thats just my theory.

by theprotest on 28-11-07 10:56 PM They made 400 of the 22Bs, so that's a very good point mate. |

by fatcat67 on 29-11-07 07:54 PM There was a thread a few months ago that went into FIA homologations, SEVS and what you were allowed to bring into AUS as an import and road register and/or only use unregistered (eg. track car).
