a quick word on snow driving and vehicle choice.

Just a few days ago i was driving a toyota rav 4 in canada (im on holidays) up at big white which is about 45mins from Kelowna. It was about 12am, and i figured this thing would cop it sweet in the conditions set ahead of it being a 4wd/Awd and all. Well the roads a bit windy so taking it slow was a defs yes yes or else there are no barriers to guard u from going off the edge about 10-20 m steep down.

But how it goes i was doing about 50km/h and i hit some black ice on a corner, and boy did i sail to the snow bank, and to my luck that snow bank stopped me from going over the edge, but i still got stuck in the small space i had. I was F**king lucky if u ask me.

Being so close to a major incident, just to let u know, be ever so bloody careful when driving in the snow, and make sure u get snow tires fitted at least! Its a terrible feeling having to wait 3-4 hours for a tow truck to come drag your car out of the snow bank/ditch at a not so generous cost. on that note i wouldnt recommend a Rav 4 for driving in such conditions. Its way too light and its 4wd only occurs when yur 40km/h or under before it deactivates.definitely not a car for the extreme conditions in my opinion.

Otherwise Enjoy smile we all learn from our mistakes.

Wow, that would have been pretty scary! Glad that you're ok.

I'm glad it only snows here once in a blue moon...well, unless you go up to the mountains and if I was ever to do that, I probably wouldn't be driving.

yeah took my parents rav to buller one year, wasn't great.

subaru though as a snow car (besides my low ground clearance) is awesome, really grippy in all conditions.

I fair really well in my bd...We got about 25cm's here today...and i was driving all day with no issues...however I am really used to driving in the snow.  I found out that when the roads have some snow on them you're good...it's when you've got some bare road showing in the winter that sucks driving on.

I had a 2000 blazer

it was fun to drive but wasn't that best in the snow the bd is a lot more comfortable to drive in the snow...with the 4wd on the blazer the ass end was always really light and made things interesting...

fyi...here's about what kind of snow fall we get here...

^^^ that's built up some...but untouched snow's easily waist deep
