i have a 1999 liberty rx and since i bought it ive been planning to change over the front bar and grille to the 2003 or 2002 ones, now ive spoken to subaru several times to find out whether they will fit on my model even tho they are from the same shaped body. but they do not know 100percent and this frustrates me as i dont wanna waste my money if they dont fit

Hi all. I know this has been covered many times, as even I asked the question when I first signed up.

The newer front bar will snag on the lower portion of the lights - the unseen parts below the line of the bumper. Correspondingly, the ends of the lights that meet the grill dont match up, hence needing a new grill. And, as if that wasnt bad enough, the newer grill wont fit into the older bonnet, so you will need the newer style bonnet as well.

Basically, to do the conversion without taking to the parts and modifying them insanely, you will need the following items:

1x revision D or E Front bumper
1x revision D or E Bonnet
1x revision D or E Grill
1x set of revision D or E Left & Right H/L assemblies.

You may need the frontal impact bar that the front bumper mounts to as well, but am uncertain of this. I seem to remember something about that from somewhere.

All up, Brand new Genuine, you are looking at almost 600 a peice for the headlights, a shade under 1,000 for the bonnet, around 100 for the grill and about 300 for the front bumper. (all not including paint)

I know you could get it for cheaper by going second hand, but theres the figures.
