Well guys, I'll start off by saying I'm all good. No broken bones or cuts. Car came off the road last night whilst cruising up to Springbrook.


Coming up to a left hand turn when a possum has come out from the left. I've hit the brakes and swered to the right. Tyres locked up as the car as turned back to the left and gone down an embankment. This happened about 730 last night. Called insurance company only to hear a pre-recorded message telling me what their office hours are, so called RACQ. Tow truck arrived about 845. Because there aren't any lights along this road, I couldn't see how bad the car was or what position in was in until the towie brought out the torch. Was taken back when he showed me this little tree was what was holding the car up. If it wasn't there, the car would have rolled down the embankment. He also said if the car had of just gone straight instead of turning back to the left, I would have gone straight down to the bottom, landing on another car that had gone over 3 weeks before.


After the towie had a look at the car, he said he needed to call a second truck to hook on due to the car only resting against this tree. If they had started to pull it out, then the front would have gone past the tree and rolled down. So we waited and waited for the second tow truck. He got there about 1130. The second truck hooked onto the rear whilst the first hooked onto the front. Started to pull the rear out first, the then front until it became stuck. We backed off the rear to try and turn the car around a bit. As we've done this, the car has started to slide down, pulling the first tow truck about 2 meters towards the edge.

By this stage, I've almost s**t myself, its pissing down with rain. Takes a total of about and hour and a half before the car is out back onto the road. Its only then I'm able to see what the damage is like.

No windows are smashed, airbags are still intact, front bar is buggered, front drivers side panel has a small dent from the tree. I'm about to head down to the yard now to check the car out. Sorry about the quality of the photos. You can see the angle the car was on, and the little tree thats saved my life.

Missed the possum to avoid getting in trouble from the EPA, and this is the result:lol:. Insurance company is now sorting everything out. Fingers x'd, it will be all fixed for Canberra later this month.
