2nd Gen JDM Central Locking intermittent

  Top of Page

Hi, hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a 94 JDM GT Legacy wagon (BG5) which has an intermittent central locking fault. When opening the driver's door (right side), the central locking sometimes works, sometimes not. If not working, I can "reset" it by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. So is obviously not the switch in the door or loose wiring etc, seems likely is the component that controls central locking.

My question is: where is this component on this model? Is this the likely culprit? Anyone else had a similar experience or have any words of wisdom?

Looking at various wiring diagrams on the internet for other 2nd gen models, it looks like the "door lock timer" is up behind the glove box on the left hand passenger side. I don't want to start pulling things to bits just yet though if someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

It's actually next to the glove box. If you look up there with a torch you might be able to see it, but I'd say you'll need to remove the glove box to get at it.

Hi, thanks for that, I had removed the glove box and had a look but could only see heater related components. Can you advise what it looks like, how many wires, etc? Or even better, if you have a photo?

Cheers

Sorry, no photos but it is on the side wall, not behind but to the side of the glove box. It should be on a metal bracket with cruise module on one side, and the central locking module on the other, just in front of the door.
