18x7.5 rims and brembos...

  Top of Page

Hey all, as per subject and description. Only thing is, the rims are a +40 offset, and they are destined to go on the B4.

So I really have 2 problems. One is the fitment of the rims onto the car, and the second is the fitment of brembos under said rims.

For those interested, they will be Kspeed Vertigo's.

I could what some have done and file off a bit of the calipers if need be, but as it will be going through regency to be engineered, I'm not a big fan of doing this.

If people can give me any idea on whether this combination can be used, please let me know.

Cheers, Ben

Yes, Milk and Juice may come in 2 litres, but cheap wine comes in 5...

With a 40 offset they should clear the brembos ok.

It will be guard issues that I would be more concerned about.

I have +44 on the wags and they scrub the rear pretty bad. So +40 would be worse.

stay between +45 & +55 to prevent guard-rubbing issues.
most +45 & +48 will clear brembo specially race-oriented manufacturers.
i've seen a cheaper set of wheels from an Aussie website having +48 offset but with a footnote saying "doesn't clear Brembo brakes" -stay away from these wheels if you're up for Brembo.
hope that helps.

hehe - building up an EJ257 with all the B4 bits bolted up, so to save me some headaches if I get defected, I'm engineering it...smile

dont mean to rain on your parade but i only know of  one legally regoed  built 2.5 in sa and it cost him over five grand in tunning and inspections he had ecutech and it didnt come close to passing a drive cycle emission test (dt80) . SA still cant agree to a test standard for modifed engines so expect a big run around and a lot of headaches

No, don't worry - the paper work being sent to regency has the specifc ending on it saying "checking to see if changing up to the 2.5 ltr is feasible". If they want huge dollars for checks I probably wont pass, I'll stick with the 2 ltr. Just saves some trouble.
I dont mind spending some money to make it legal, but its a different story if its going to cost lots. See what requirements they send back...
