Not really.

That's the price MY02 B4s were fetching two years ago.

For $7k More you can have my MY05 Liberty GT Wagon, with 96K on the clock.. much better value.. 155k is a lot!

Re: $23,990 '04 Liberty GT????

I highly doubt that that is such a problem considering that for $7,000 more you can have a GT wagon that's due for it's major hundred thou overhaul which can cost a good $2,000 depending if not more in some instances? You might as well just say that the GT Wagon is going to cost you $9,000 more?

I think the MY04 is good value for money provided that service history is up to scratch and the previous owners have been "meticulous" about it.

Kilometers are nothing IMO.

I'd rather buy a car with more kilometers on it knowing that it had been looked after as opposed to one with less and poor service history.

Hi,

I have to agree with you mate, just seems like a good buy? Obviously it depends what you want out of the car, if you want to throw dollars at it, wind up the boost, turbo, etc, then you'll want a lower mileage car. But for the every day average punter, I can't see why a well serviced and generally well maintained higher kilometre example isn't simply a good buy.

Cheers,
Nik

What a blanket statement.. lets be honest here.. unless you did it yourself, you dont know the history of any car, people say that they have always had the car serviced, changed the oil every 5000km, never modified, lady owner etc etc etc, it doesnt actually mean that it has been done!

ALL mechanical parts have a finite service life, irrelevant of maintenance.  IF given the choice between a car with 96,000KM and  car with nearly 60% more K's on the clock, I would ALWAYS take the lower mileage car.  Yes, there is a major service at 100,000km (sideline, I have already had mine done, so nice presumption there!)  but there is also a major service at 200,000 KM.. that car is already over half way there..  The only exception to this would be if your planning a major re-build, or a major overhall as a mater of course.. then to a certain extent who cares if the car has a lot of K's, you will be replacing a large portion of the moving / consumable parts.

IF you can 100% verify that the car HAS had an immaculate service history and has been pampered AND the price is well below average, then maybe.. but as the chances of that happening are VERY low (unless its a family sale) I would personally steer clear.

Not a bad price...

Easy to tell if its not been looked after... check the interior for wear and tear...
Service history, easy. check the service book and see who's been servicing it and ask questions.. simple.
Get an independent inspection done (not nrma) and pay the 23990 no more to pay drive away.

Only reason its at that price is they more than likely
1) traded it in and gave the sucker a **** low trade in so their mark up is a normal one (trade = 15k etc etc)
2) Repo auctions...
3) Pickles / Mannheim Fowles etc (Have any of you ever been to the dealer only auctions????? the prices they pay are fcukin awesome.. but dealers only.

Dealers are a specific type of breed, either they're ultragreedy or they put a 'modest' mark-up on their cars in order to make a decent profit.. there's no point in them putting it up for 30k and having it sit there for 6mths, better cut the ****e and slash the price so as to have it sit on the yard for a week or so quick turn around is the key.

Suff i find your argument flawed.

60000kms @ 7500rpm vs 155000kms @ 2500-4000rpm.

I know which motor is in better condition. Regardless of how many times its had the oil changed.

Also, this is the wrong spot.
Your aren't selling this vehicle, nor do you know the person selling it.

i posted the topic and i don't know the person selling it... i figured that putting it in the for sale section made sense seen as it's actually for sale...

i was more making a comment about what i consider a ridiculously low price for what it is...

Haha  what a stupid analogy!

60,000KM @ 2500-4000 rpm vs 155,000KM @ 7500R rpm... I also know which engine is in better condition!  Where is a) the relevance in your statement (is it your car that is on carsales?) and b) the logic?
