Oil ChangeIts therapeutic and your Liberty will love you. NA or Turbo the process is the same.

I know this is very simple, but there is alot of people out there wasting money going to Midas to get it done, cause they have never done it on their own.

Its simple as, and quite enjoyable.

As always I try my best with my DIY's but keep in mind, this is my way of doing it, if you have other ways or tricks add them along.

Step 1

Get yourself prepared,

- Oil: Castrol EGDE 10-60 (summer months)
- Oil filter: Genuine Subaru
- Smokes to keep you amused

Step 2,

Jack up the car so you have adequate working room under the Liberty, and can get to everything with ease.

Step 3,

If like the B4, your car has a protective tray under the car, this needs to be removed to be able to access the oil filter, the sump plug can still be accessed with this on, but It needs to come off regardless!

Step 4,

Get an oil tray (or whatever you want to use) and place it under the sump where the plug is,

Remove the plug and let all the oil pour out of the car, I let the jack down at this stage so the car is level and can get all the oil out..
Once it has stopped dripping, replace the sump plug and move on to the oil filter.

(hint: make sure the washer on the sump-plug is in good condition too)

Step 5,

Remove the oil filter off the car and keep the tray under it too!, it is full of oil.
just twist it off,
Normally I keep mine hand tight, although this time I needed to use some old-skool tricks of smashing a screwdriver through the filter to use as a handle.

Screw-driver / Handle

Here is the New filter with the Part number for all

Step 6,

When putting the new filter on, use some of the old engine oil to grease up the rubber seal around the filters edge, I also put some on the thread in the middle.

Make sure everything is toight like a tiger" and move on! under the car is complete!

Step 7,

Pour oil!, I generally use about 4.7L in the B4, it seems to be enough and the car likes it,  Now, I usually pour the old oil into an empty oil bottle and dispose of it at the local tip, check with your local council on what they do with used engine oil and how to dispose of it.

pouring it along your fence to stop weeds growing is common too

ENJOY!
